It is perfect for checking moisture content on most hygroscopic building materials such as wood, plaster, masonry, gypsum, and concrete.
The BYK m100 is a two-pin type penetration meter. This means that it operates by using electrical resistance. When the pins are pushed into the surface an electrical charge is sent between them. If there is moisture it will conduct substantially better, then the dry substrate and be indicated on the screen.
The BYK m100 has an extremely compact easy carry design. It features things such as replaceable electrode pins, bright backlit display, auto shutoff, and air temperature measurements. It is perfect to keep in the tool bag since it does not take up much space. It has 2 built in scales one for wood and one for building materials. The scale for wood can read 6-44% with a stated accuracy of ±2%. The building material scale can display 0.2 to 2.0% with a stated accuracy of ±0.2%.
