ISO Surface Cleanliness Standards
Without the ISO Surface Cleanliness Standards Verification of surface cleanliness after surface preparation using only the written standards prepared by ISO can be left to interpretation and result in subjective evaluations and controversy on a project. Using the ISO Standards can reduce the degree of subjectivity associated with evaluating surface cleanliness. The ISO 8501-1 Visual Standards (formerly the Swedish Standards) depict initial conditions of uncoated steel. Surfaces prepared to various levels of hand and power tool cleaning (St1 and St2), abrasive blast cleaning (Sa1, Sa2, Sa2 1/2, Sa3) and flame cleaning (F1) over each initial condition are provided. Written standards are shown in seven languages. Hardback cover and color images are provided.
