The Dakota ZX-6 is the replacement for the popular MX-6. The ZX-6 features a multi echo mode that can read the wall thickness through coatings. This removes the need to grind the coating off before taking readings.
Various other features are also built in such as an alarm mode which once configured will alert the user of readings outside of tolerance with audible and visual alarms. Also available is a differential mode which will indicate to the user how much higher or lower the current reading is from a user set nominal value.
Two variations of the Dakota ZX-6 exist. There is the traditional ZX-6 and the ZX-6DL which offers the same features as the ZX-6 along with the ability to log the readings. The ZX-6DL can hold 40 files of 250 readings making the total memory capacity 10,000 readings. Readings are stored as .CSV files and are accessible by plugging the gage into the computer without any special software.
It is housed in an extruded aluminum body with gasket sealed nickel-plated aluminum end caps. Weighing only 11 ounces with batteries installed this gauge is designed to be durable yet easy to handle. The sturdy design continues into keypad which has 9 keys behind a sealed membrane which is resistant to water and petroleum products.
Supplied by default is a 5 mHz transducer which allows the ZX-6 to read around 6” of wall thickness over non-coated materials out of the box. Other transducers are available and interchangeable through the two quick disconnect LEMO connectors on the top of the gauge. The Dakota ZX-6 is powered by two AA batteries and can operate for 45 hours on alkaline cells.
Built in is a manual and auto zero mode to ensure that the gauge is reading properly. The ZX-6 also features a high-speed scan at 100 Hz which will display the lowest reading found in the scan.
