The Pipe Pit Gauge fits neatly into the leather case and can be easily carried in one’s pocket. It will serve as a constant guide for judging the condition of the pipe. The pit gauge is made of 0.50″ highly polished stainless steel – is about 2-11/16″ wide and 5-1/4″ long, which is vest-pocket size. The indicator arm has a stylus that fits into the pits of pipe being measured. A guide is fastened to the gauge to protect and guide the indicator arm. The scale on the right of the guide is shown as an arc and is expressed in sixteenths of an inch and in mils (thousandths of an inch). The gauge weighs 8 ounces.

Testex replica tape is used in conjunction with an analog or digital spring-loaded micrometer for acquiring surface profile measurements according to Method C in ASTM D4417.
