Tinker & Rasor RF-IT Above Ground Insulator Tester
The Tinker & Rasor RF-IT allows you to verify that there are no shorts in your above ground pipeline insulator. Â This device is also perfect for checking flange bolt shorts. Â The RF-IT uses radio frequency to operate. Â You put a probe on each side of the insulator and it tries to apply radio frequency between the two. Â If the signal is able to travel between the probes easily and the device receives a strong signal then it will alert you that there is a short somewhere between the two probes. Â It will emit an audible beep and you can use the speed of the beeps along with the LCD sliding scale to determine the location of the short.
The RF-IT is factory calibrated so no field adjustments are needed to be made. Â This device also has a 10-minute auto shutoff feature to prevent it from accidentally being left on. Â You can also use it on structures that have no cathodic protection if needed. Â The entire unit is contained within itself making transport of the device simple.
