One of the most frequently performed physical tests conducted on in-place coating systems is tape/knife adhesion. Performing this test in strict conformance to the ASTM standard is critical for obtaining accurate adhesion ratings. ASTM D3359, “Measuring Adhesion By Tape Test” describes two methods: Method A (X-cut) is used for coatings in excess of 5 mils; and method B (cross-cut) is used for coatings up to 5 mils thick. If your coating system is greater than 5 mils thick, then see https://ktagage.com/product/kta-x-cut-guide-kit-2/.
The Gardco Paint Adhesion Test Kit contains everything you need to perform cross-cut adhesion testing according to Method B in ASTM D3359. A precision machined multiple tip cutter blade contains 6 or 11 teeth for maintaining spacing between incisions. Cutter blades (sold separately) are secured in a metal handle. The kit comes complete with a blade holder, small brush for removing debris after cutting the coating film, a lighted magnifier, roll of adhesive tape, and a copy of the ASTM test method, all in a durable foam-fitted plastic carrying case. Conforms to ASTM D3359. Made in the USA.
